The third issue of Im u Ko Terte is published, called "Women and Men". By means of workshops in Ashnak and Noyemberyan we discussed gender issues. Gender is about men and women, not about their biological differences, but about the social responsibilities, behaviour and roles ascribed to men and women in a certain culture. How is your life influenced by being born as a girl or as a boy? Are chances equal? We asked young people to reflect on this. As the result, in this newspaper you can find among others drawings of the ‘perfect’ man and woman by youth from Ashnak and Noyemberyan, you can read a story from Vartenis about how it is for a woman to be beaten by her husband and what is the difference between gender equality in the law and in the reality from the point of view of an Italian girl. Next to articles about gender you can find thoughts from Stepanakert, a photoreportage from children in Berd and Chambarak and several poems. Issue number three can be downloaded below.
"Im u Ko Terte" is a project of volunteers of Civil Society Institute. This newspaper is issued once a month and every time it is devoted to a different social or youth topic. The aim of this newspaper is to encourage youth from regions of Armenia to discuss about actual topics, get them to know the experience of other countries while solving the problems and also to give them basic knowledge about journalism and to encourage them to express their thoughts. The broader goal of this newspaper is to involve youth into civic actions and to provide them an opportunity to spend their free time as well as to help them to develop a social network between different regions.
