On January 20th 2009, at CSI organized a seminar-discussion on the mentioned topic.
The meeting was led by Ashot Barseghyan-Researcher for PhD in Middle Eastern Studies, Department of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University. He started the meeting talking about important events in history of Jewish people B.C.E. Then he presented the ideology of Zionism and the establishment of the State of Israel, which became the main reason for the Arab Israeli conflict. It was talked also about the wars between Arabic World and Israel during 20th century, about their consequences, and the roles of leaders of Palestine and Israel. It is very interesting to know about positions of different states concerning this conflict at different periods. The wide-ranging military operations, which were started in the end of December 2008 in Gaza, were discussed also.
The discussion was organized in the frame of Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation program.
