Conflict capable schools - conflict capable society

Since September CSI has been implementing a new project titled "Conflict capable  schools - conflict capable society". Four schools were selected for the project, 3 schools 3 schools from Yerevan and 1 school from Ashtarak. The primary goal of this project is to raise the level of efficiency of conflict management among Armenian society through organizing trainings on conflict management for teachers and pupils.

From October 20 - 24, and November 24 - 27 trainings on conflict management were organized for teachers. During the trainings the essence of conflict, the stages of conflict escalation, and methods of conflict transformation according to Friedrich Glasle's thesis were presented to them. Role playing exercises were also given to them that helped feel the situation, and better understand the theory. During the trainings the teachers shared their experience and problems in school.

Currently CSI conducts trainings for senior pupils of these schools. They have their unique conceptions and typical examples about conflicts, forgiveness, mutual relations, but this course is a mean to help them to have reasonable approaches and maybe new points of view.

Armenian - Turkish relations and the Karabakh conflict issue are also among the topics of discussions.

The trainings are conducted by Artak Kirakosyan, Chairman of the board of CSI.

The project is implemented by an assistance of US Embassy in Armenia
