Torture prevention in South Caucasus

On October 1-2, In Georgia, Tbilisi took place the international conference Prevention of Torture: What does it mean and how well do we do it in South Caucasus.

The event was mainly focused on discussions regarding implementation of OPCAT requirements and NPM worldwide and in the South Caucasus particularly.

Among participants there were members of Committee for Prevention of Torture, UN Subcommittee for Prevention of Torture, representatives of Ombudsman Offices, and monitoring mechanisms of range of countries.

Armenian delegation was comprised of representatives of the Public monitoring groups of Police and Penitentiary institutions. Civil Society Institute was presented by the Head of Human Rights Department Lilit Petrosyan.
