There are no precise data on the degree of the air pollution in Nubarashen (video)

The number of the people suffering from cancer in the Nubarashen district, which is only 4 kilometers far from the Nubarashen landfill, has grown. The number of allergic and infection diseases has also grown. This is stated by the Head of the Children's Department at the Nubarashen polyclinic Ruzanna Galstyan.

"There are 35-40 cases of oncologic diseases, however there are patients in the stage of observation, and there are also people who do not turn to polyclinic",-she says.

The residents complain about the air pollution as a result of burning the litter in the landfill. They also complain that as a result of burning they get diseases, and that they also they cannot open the windows and breathe fresh air, especially during the winds.

Six year old Sona Tamazyan is newly operated. She had echinococcus disease (emerges from dog excretion), which can be dispersed by food or the hair of the dog. In the Nubarashen landfill there are lots of dogs, with which the children play unconsciously.

According to Aram Gabrielyan, the expert from "Khazer" NGO, during the burning of the litter, toxic materials are released that consist of methane and carbon dioxide, the amount of which according to the research of the RA Ministry of Environment has passed the limit in Armenia.

RA Ministry of Environment checks the degree of air cleanness of Yerevan by seven automat stations, none of which work in Nubarashen district. Therefore, as Liana Margaryan, the representative of the ministry, mentions, they have no concrete data on the degree of the air pollution of Nubarashen.
